The State of Men's Health

E-mail Print PDF

The State of Men’s Health web site provides individual state reports that give a comprehensive overview of the health of men and women in each state. These report cards allow individuals to take a stand and make more informed decisions against the crisis that is claiming the lives of our husbands, sons, fathers, brothers, neighbors, and other male loved ones.

Research shows that:

  • men do not see physicians for a physical exam nearly as often as women

  • men are dying of the top causes of death at higher rates than women

  • men are more likely to be uninsured than women

  • approximately 30,000 men in the US die each year from prostate cancer

Visit the web site and click your state on the map or table to find statistics about life expectancy and mortality broken down by sex and race, prostate cancer mortality, and top causes of death in your state. Rate how your state compares to others.

Please feel free to print a copy of the reports and distribute them to media, legislators, educators, and anyone else you think will benefit from the information.

Availability of data varies from state to state and reports are being updated as new data become available.
